IPTV Reseller Pricing Strategy 2026: Price Ladders

Decide what your prices should do, build a length ladder from your real cost per line, price for renewals and know when to change it.

5 min read

A reseller pricing strategy is more than a price list. It is a short set of decisions about what your prices should do for you: bring in new customers, reward people who commit for longer, or keep your evenings free by selling fewer, longer lines. Get those decisions right and the numbers follow. This guide walks through a reseller pricing strategy for 2026 in five steps, with example ladders built from iStream Central's real credit price as of October 2026. The profit calculator on the home page lets you try your own figures as you go.

Step 1: decide what your prices should do

Pick one main aim before you pick a single number. Three common aims:

  • Simple and clear. One price per length, no extras. Easy to explain in one message.
  • Reward commitment. A noticeably lower price per month on 6 and 12 month lines, so customers choose longer lines and you handle fewer renewals.
  • Fit the household. A clear price for a second line in the same home, so a family does not need two separate deals.

You can combine them later. Starting with one keeps your offer easy to understand, which matters more than squeezing out the last bit of margin.

Write the aim down

Put the aim of your reseller pricing strategy in one sentence, for example "clear prices that make the 12 month line the obvious choice". Every price you set later should support that sentence. If a price works against it, change the price, not the sentence.

Step 2: build the ladder from your cost

Every reseller pricing strategy starts from the cost floor. At iStream Central 1 credit pays for one customer month and a credit costs €3, so a 1 month line costs you €3, a 6 month line €18 and a 12 month line €36.

Here is one example ladder, built at about three times the monthly cost with a step down per month for longer lines. These are example prices to show the method, not advice on what to charge:

Line length Credits Your cost Example price Your profit Margin
1 month 1 €3 €9 €6 67%
3 months 3 €9 €24 €15 63%
6 months 6 €18 €45 €27 60%
12 months 12 €36 €81 €45 56%

Read the table from the bottom up: the 12 month line is the one you want most customers to choose, so its price should look clearly better per month than the others.

Three rules for a ladder that works

  1. The price per month falls as the length grows. If it does not, nobody picks the longer line.
  2. The steps are big enough to notice. A tiny saving does not change anyone's mind.
  3. Prices are round. Customers compare round numbers at a glance and remember them.

The guide to 1, 3, 6 and 12 month offers goes deeper into designing each rung.

Step 3: price for renewals, not only first sales

A reseller pricing strategy that only thinks about the first sale leaves money on the table. Renewals are where a reseller business earns most easily, because a renewing customer needs no setup and no persuasion. Three choices help:

  • keep your renewal price the same as your normal price, so nobody feels punished for staying;
  • offer a move to a longer line at renewal time, when the customer is already happy;
  • remind people a few days before their line ends, so a renewal never depends on them remembering.

Our guide to renewals and keeping customers has reminder wording you can use.

Step 4: test before you publish

Before your prices go to anyone, test them three ways. First, in the calculator, to see what each price leaves you per month. Second, against your real costs: payment fees and your time come out of the margin too. Third, on two or three people you trust: ask which length they would pick and why. If you have not used the service yourself yet, order the free 24-hour test line first, so you know exactly what your prices are paying for.

If everyone picks the 1 month line, the step to longer lines is too small. If nobody understands the offer, it has too many options. Fix one thing at a time and test again, so you know which change made the difference. The profit margins guide shows how the numbers move at different price levels.

Step 5: know when to change your prices

A good reseller pricing strategy is stable. Customers trust prices that do not move every week. Change yours only for a real reason:

  • Your cost changed. Check your cost per line whenever you reorder credits. Moving to packs with bonus credits lowers it: from 100 credits, a 12 month line costs you €27.72 instead of €36, which leaves €53.28 at the example price of €81.
  • Your work changed. If you now offer evening support or setup help, that is worth something.
  • Your mix changed. If most customers already take 12 month lines, you may not need such a large step.

When you raise a price, keep existing customers on their current price until their next renewal and tell them early.

Common pricing strategy mistakes

  • Pricing at cost to win customers. It leaves nothing for fees, support or the day something goes wrong.
  • Too many options. Four lengths are plenty; more makes people hesitate.
  • Copying someone else's numbers. Their costs, time and customers are not yours.
  • Discounts with no end. A permanent discount is just a lower price with extra steps.
  • Changing prices too often. Customers who see a new price every month stop trusting any of them.

Turn your strategy into a price list

Once you have an aim, a ladder and a renewal plan, your reseller pricing strategy fits into one message you can send to anyone. Our credit prices guide for 2026 explains the cost side in more detail, and the one page business plan puts your prices next to your goals. New to all of this? Common questions

How should I set my first prices?

Start from your cost per line. At iStream Central a 1 month line costs you €3 and a 12 month line €36. Add room for payment fees and your time, then lower the price per month for longer lines.

Should longer lines be cheaper per month?

Usually yes. A lower price per month on 6 and 12 month lines gives customers a reason to commit, and each longer line saves you several renewals, payments and reminders.

How often should I change my prices?

Rarely. Change them when your cost per line changes, when the work you offer changes or when your customer mix shifts. Keep existing customers on their price until their next renewal.

Where can I test my prices?

The profit calculator on the iStream Central home page shows what each price leaves you per month at the live credit price.
